International Exchange – Shanghai Youth Federation
In cooperation with the City of Hamburg/Youth Department Eimsbüttel, Hamburg SuchtPräventionsZentrum, the Apostelkirche Eimbüttel, KIZ, and Jugendsozialarbeit Schanzenviertel, the visit of the delegation of Shanghai Youth Federation took place from July 11th to 16th 2011 in Hamburg.

The Secretary of Chinese Communist Youth League/Shanghai Committee and honourable President of Shanghai Youth Federation, Mr. Pan Min alongside with Mr. Mu Qing, Mr. Yao Qian and Ms Zahng Jing Jing, visited the city of Hamburg to get an overview and impression on activities in youth-social-work.

Alongside youth social work, another key-aspect of the exchange was exsessive internet and drug addiction of youth and youngsters. The delegation visited Prof. Thomasius and his team in the University Hospital Eppendorf (UKE) for information and exchange of thoughts and ideas. Also visited was the Come In, a stationary facility for therapy of addicted youngsters in a suburb of Hamburg.

Further on, the delegation got information and insight on social networking and international youth work in the district of Schanzenviertel/St Pauli, by a visit to the Haus der Familie (house of family). They also visited the children’s home of SME e.V.

The exchange finally found an end by a visit to Berlin. Alongside with members of the german delegation we visited the Bundestag (german parliament), the Brandenburger Tor (brandenburg gate) the Memorial for the Murdered European Jews and Checkpoint Charly.

It was a wonderful and extremly interesting exchange and we would like to continue the good relationship between Shanghai and Hamburg.
